The author introduces a blind character. The author uses this new role to show a different way of describing the setting by not using sight. It is very interesting and a unique way to wright something. I think by doing this it includes a whole new depth into the story line that was not there before.
A useful technique used to develop the plot of a book is having a conflict in a family. This book pins a son and a father against each other while the mom is grieving over the loss of her daughter. Adding this into the plot gives depth to the characters and allows us as readers to see how they interact in situations.
The book I am reading is Brambelstars Storm, even though it is more of a kids book I think the way the author describes the setting is amazing. You are looking through a cats eyes and are deep in the forest so it could be confusing at times, but the author is very good about explaining in detail the setting so you are able to visualize what is happening.
In this book one of the biggest skills I hope to use is the insane use of imagery. The author is able to make a nature scene come to life using words and subtle hints in conversations. The setting changes a lot but she still is able to keep you in the setting with intense detail use.
