I need to cry; my dog is gone, my grades are a mess and my emotions are all bottled up. I think tonight I am gonna go out and plant a flower on his grave. I won’t tell anybody because I do not want them to know but I want to do it. I will take a jumping jack flower from a potted plant and put it up there. We set him free.

Ozzie wanted to be put down; maybe we should have put him down a long time ago. My mom was for sure that we would find something that would fix him but we never did. Just yesterday we called the vet out and they put him down. He is buried next to our last dog and his siter. My mom really took it hard but I haven’t processed it yet. It hasn’t hit me yet. It will hit me when I go to let him out and open up the garage and he won’t be there to run outside. That is when I think I will loose it.
The dog was on antibiotics, steroids, antibiotic wash and a diluted vinegar wash. In the past two weeks this series was his life. He got bathed every other day. My mom got a call three days ago from my grandma. She had stopped by the house and saw Ozzie laying under a pine tree, he was shaking and wasn’t responding to her. She was sure he was dying. Ozzie, was the best dog. He was protective of the family and the property but he wasn’t aggressive. He would never advance on someone all he would do is put him in between me and the stranger. His bark wa ferocis and would scare a lot of people into staying into their cars. He weighed over 100 pounds and had a thick mane on his shoulders like a lion.
The dog, waiting for us to help him, continued getting worse. He got to the point where the vet put him back on antibiotics and steroids. We would have to wrap the antibiotics in peanut butter to get him to take them. When that stopped working he stopped taking his pills. He was only halfway through a 30 day supply so when he went off them this time the itching came back even worse then before.
At the time we didn’t know he had a yeast infection so we didn’t realize that putting him on meds again would make him better and then when he went off of them again he would be worse. We called the vet and asked if the blood panel we sent in was back. Waiting for her to answer, we nervously paced. When she called back she said the blood panel was clean. We had no idea what was causing him to itch.
My dog, who is playful and loud, is now sick and sad. When the yeast infection got so bad in his stomach it started to leak out of his skin. When this happened he started itching and digging at his skin. He would scratch at the back of his legs until they would bleed. He would lick at his sides until they were raw. When he started this we took him back to the vet and they said he had a skin infection. So again they put him back on steroids and antibiotics.
Over the past few months my family’s dog has been sick. It started out with him having fleas. He developed an allergic reaction to them and chewed at his tail so much that he caused a severe infection at the base of him tail. To treat this the vet put him on antibiotics and steroids. Terrorizing his stomach, the antibiotics destroyed both good and bad bacteria. The antibiotics removed all bacteria from his stomach which allowed yeast to begin developing. The steroids weakened his immune system.

The girl who was killed grew up in a two story townhouse with loving parents who cared so deeply for her, they catered to her every need. When she got into high school, society’s wrath fell upon the girl. She was often never perfect enough for her classmates or never skinny enough for the cheer leading team. Her grades never met the schools expectation, not wanting to hurt her parents this caused the girl to keep in pain, pain does not a happy life make.
